The famous casino named after the Republican candidate to the White House, Donald Trump, has a new owner. Since Friday the 26th of February, billionaire Carl Icahn is the new boss of the venue. He will have to increase the revenue as well as the casino’s frequentation, in decline the last few years.


The Trump Taj Mahal Casino & Hotel is a huge Resort possessing in its casino over 2,500 slot machines and 130 gaming tables. The hotel has 2,010 luxurious rooms and suites.


While the casino almost went in bankruptcy, billionaire Carl Icahn, who owns also the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, saved the Resort by being the new owner of the place.


The Trentonian reports that the transaction is estimated at nearly $300 millions.


Even if Donald Trump does not possess its 10% shares anymore, the Resort will keep his name.


We told you in a recent article that the Trump Taj Mahal was one of the only ones casinos in Atlantic City to see its revenues decreasing in 2015.


After having almost filed for bankruptcy several times in 2014, as the bizjournals recalls, the venue’s results in 2015 was $180,2 millions being 16,5% of decline.


Carl Icahn now hopes to increase the revenues and especially reopen the poker room featuring 48 tables, closed for nearly a year.
