Nunavut (NU) is the biggest Federal territory of Canada. It is located at the extreme North of the country and its surface area is gigantic. Its population of 35,000 is the smallest in comparison to the others Canadian territories: Yukon (YT) and Northern Territories (NT). The territory’s capital is Iqualit.
The major part of the territory of Nunavut (NU) is composed by natural ad preserved spaces. Spread on miles, those natural areas feature magnificent landscapes and panoramas. Nature lovers will spend a wonderful time exploring the Auyuittuq National park, Quammaarviit Territorial Park or Ovayok Territorial Park. Beautiful snow-covered peaks, frozen lakes, verdant flora and impressive hills are what to expect within those parks.
In the capital, you will have several options between museums, excursions and relaxation. The Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre will let you learn more about the wonderful territory and all the activities provided. If you like monuments and visits, choose the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, the Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum or St Jude’s Cathedral.
The art lovers will be pleased to know that several galleries show the local art. You will find them at the Northern Collectables of Iqualit and the Arctic Coast Visitor Center of Cambridge Bay.
