At the extreme South of China, Macau is one of the worldwide gambling capitals. It provides an astounding number of Resorts and Casino-hotels, basing almost entirely its economy on gambling.

Nearly a hundred of casinos are located in Macau, officially named “the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China”. In total, the gaming offer in Macau is incredibly high with more than 27,000 slot machines, almost 8,500 gaming tables, 85 poker tables as well as a horse track and greyhound betting.

Those Resort-Casinos are like cities by featuring uncountable restaurants, bars, nightclubs, malls or even fitness rooms, pools, spas or even golf courses.

But Macau provides a lot more than its multiple luxurious Casino-resorts. Indeed, this former Portuguese colony is rich form its cultural heritage.

Its Historic Center highlights the Portuguese architectural influences. Cobblestone streets, baroque architectures and picturesque houses allow the visitor travelling back in time.

The Largo do Senado is the main avenue of the Historic Center, it features numerous small stores and distinguishes itself by being the start of all the pedestrian Streets that reach the Saint Paul Cathedral.

This cathedral is one of the biggest Catholic monuments of Asia. Today, it remains only its façade because a fire destroyed the building. In spite of that, the place allows enjoying captivating visits of its crypt and ruins.

Other historic monument, the Gaia Fortress is a superb building providing a stunning panorama of the city.

The contrast is almost unreal between the historic part and the modern part of the city. After having left the Old-Macau, the visitor is plunged again within the effervescence of the modern Macau.

At the foot of the AJ Hackett Tower, shopping centers, bars, pubs and entertainment places liven up the economy of Macau. In order to satisfy all the tourists, the owners of the establishments of entertainment compete to attract the most of people. Therefore, the concerts, enchanting shows or theatre plays are organized several times during the same day.

It is also not rare that some visitors make great deals for shopping. Indeed, trendy boutiques and jewelries suggest unbeatable prices in comparison to those in Europe or North America.

For the gambling fans, coming in Macau is a one-lifetime experience.
