The Northern Territories are located in the Northwest of Canada between the territory of Yukon (YT) in the West and the territory of Nunavut (NU) in the East. The territory’s population is estimated at nearly 42,000 and its capital and main city is Yellowknife.

The territory is known for the beauty of its natural areas. Indeed, many national parks are located within its territory, providing exceptional panoramas and landscapes. The Northern Territories (NT) features also the biggest lake in mainland Canada: The Great Bear Lake. It is also the fourth biggest of North America. Several small islands are spread on it and boat excursions are organized to explore all the lake’s wonders.

The capital-city Yellowknife features a great deal of activities. In the Norther Frontier Visitors Center, you will have the opportunity to learn about the history and activities of the region thanks to exhibitions, maps and a friendly staff. A souvenir shop is also featured.
Yellowknife provides a lovely Old Town and cultural places such as the Legislative Assembly Building, the Bush Pilot’s Monument, Down to Earth Gallery and the Museum of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. Hiking and nature lovers will escape to the Frame Lake Trail, the Prelude Lake Territorial Park and the Cameron River Ramparts.
