This time, it is over for the former casino of the Republican candidate to the White House, Donald Trump. The famous gaming establishment of AC closes down for good, after 26 years of running.
The casino Trump Taj Mahal was one of the most known establishments of Atlantic City. It was built in 1990.
In spite of its 2,500 slot machines, 130 gaming tables, 2,010 luxury rooms or its 5 gourmet restaurants, the casino has lost over $100 millions during several years.
The billionaire investor, Carl Icahn, who has purchased the venue in September 2009, did not succeed in increasing the casino’s economic results.
To add to the great losses, a huge strike was initiated last July, against the decision of cancellation of the health insurance cover and the pensions paid by the casino. According to abcnews, it is the longest strike in Atantic City's 38-year era.
As the bbc announces, the closure of the venue will affect more than 3,000 jobs.
Since 2014, the Trump Taj Mahal is the fifth out of the twelve casinos of Atlantic City to shut down.
Doubtlessly, it is due to the strong competition between the other casino’s centers of the US East coast.
