At the beginning, they were 6,420 poker enthusiasts to compete for the most prestigious title of the world. After 10 day of tough competition, they are only 9 survivors. Six Americans, one Belgian, one Italian and one Israeli will fight to gain the 7.680.021$ reward promised to the winner.
Among them, 3 players are well known: Max Steinberg, who won a WSOP bracelet in 2012, Pierre Neuville, the November Niner veteran with 55 years of poker under his belt and Joseph McKeehen who got a runner-up place at 2014 Monster Stack WSOP.
This one has a real advantage since he will come with 63,100,000 chips against 20 or 30 million chips for his direct opponents.
The 6 other contestants (Zvi Stern, Neil Blumenfield, Thomas Cannuli, Joshua Beckley, Patrick Chan and Federico Butteroni) will know their glory hour during the final that will take place in Las Vegas on next November.
The Daniel Negreanu’s elimination (11th) was the highlight of this last day of competition. Already eliminated at the same rank in 2001, the player thought he was ready to go further this year. Unfortunately, McKeehen didn’t let him to do it and the Canadian will have to satisfy himself with 526,778$.
All the finalists are already assured to become millionaire. Here’s the prizepool on this final table :
