Last Thursday, Japanese parliament voted in favor of gambling legalization within its territory. Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe has finally succeeded despite a strong opposition. Powerful gambling groups have already reacted to the great news.


In a recent article, we told you that Japan wanted to operate casinos during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Discussions continued for a long time, opposing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and several politicians that were against the project.


But, gambling fans can finally rejoice! Japanese parliaments voted in favor of casino’s operation in “incorporated places” as the abcnews says.


Unfortunately, the gaming establishments won’t be ready for the Olympics. Indeed, the casinos are planned to be in operation at least in 2022 or 2023.


As soon as the good news was officially released, powerful gaming groups such as Wynn Resorts, MGM Resort International and Caesars Entertainment reacted well and have alreday considered investing in Japan.


Indeed, if we believe fortune.com, MGM group could invest not less than €10 billion in gaming infrastructure in the "Land of the Rising Sun".


The potential market in Japan is estimated at €30 billion a year in gross revenue. Casinos operation will also create thousands of jobs and participate in tourism attractiveness.


The casinos should be integrated to big resorts featuring hotels, shopping and conference spaces.


Locations of resorts are not planned yet, though. It is said that Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka as well as the island of Hokkaido are among the runners.
