Veronica Castillo never saw it coming. She first thought she had won a $8.5-million jackpot at Lucky Eagle Casino, in Rochester (near Seattle, Washington state), then she was told that the machine malfunctioned.

Veronica almost thought she was having the best day of her life.

According to the Dailymail, she played a game called Jurassic Riches when the counter started climbing until it went over $8.5m. Terrific, isn't it? But, unfortunately for her, the dream lasted for about five minutes.

While she attempted to claim her prize, the casino denied that she had won such an amount of money and gave her a $80 ticket instead. They said the slot machine on which she was playing could only offer a maximum jackpot of $20,000. According to the casino staff, the machine 'malfunctioned'. In other words, no jackpot was won on that day.

Disappointed and angry, she thinks she was a victim of cheating. She's reportedly pursuing the casino, not to get her money, but because she wants to make sure that it doesn't happen to anybody else.

To make it up to her, the casino offered a stay in one of their suites all expenses paid for a week-end, during which she could eat and play for free. It's nice of them, but she won't forget the $8 millions that slipped through her fingers!
